Clipboard Vault keeps your clips on your phone. It has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no cloud sync, and nothing you copy or save is ever transmitted. The app makes exactly one network request, unrelated to your clips: a weekly check for app announcements, described in section 5.

Clipboard Vault reads the contents of your clipboard — text and images — only at the moment you explicitly ask it to save a clip. That happens when you tap "Save clip" in the text selection toolbar, share content to the app, use the Quick Settings tile or the home screen widget, or save a clip from inside the app.
The app does not monitor your clipboard in the background, and cannot. Android 10 and later prevent any app that is not in the foreground, and is not your active keyboard, from reading clipboard content. Clipboard Vault does not use accessibility services, notification listeners, or any other mechanism to work around that restriction.
Clips you have saved (text and images), your pins, and your app settings are written to the app's private storage area on your device. Android's application sandbox keeps that storage inaccessible to other apps. No copy is created anywhere else, and none of it leaves the device.
Android's own cloud backup is switched off for this app, so your clips are not copied to your Google account or to Google Drive.
So that we can tell you about something important — a bug that risks losing saved clips, for instance — the app contacts a small endpoint we operate, at most once a week, to ask whether there is an announcement to display. This is the only network request Clipboard Vault makes.
What the request contains: the app's own version, and nothing else. No clip content. No search terms. No account, advertising ID, install identifier, device model, or any other value that would distinguish your copy of the app from anyone else's running the same version. Nothing in the request allows one week's check to be linked to the next.
What any internet request unavoidably reveals: like every request your phone makes to any server, this one arrives carrying your device's IP address. We do not log it against you, do not use it to build a profile, and do not associate it with your clips. The endpoint is hosted on Cloudflare Workers; Cloudflare handles the connection and may retain standard network metadata under its own privacy terms.
The check runs in the background about once every seven days, requires no permission prompt, and is skipped when your device is offline or low on battery. Announcements appear inside the app; they are never notifications or ads.
The export feature writes a backup file to a location you choose, through Android's system file picker. That file contains your saved clips in plain, unencrypted form so that it can be restored on any phone. Once the file is written it is outside the app's control: treat it as you would any other sensitive document. In particular, if you save it into a folder that a cloud service synchronises, that service will upload it under its own privacy policy, not this one. Restoring reads only the file you select. Backups are never sent to us.
Clipboards frequently contain passwords, one-time codes, and personal details. Clipboard Vault saves only what you ask it to save, and you can delete any clip at any time. Saved clips are stored unencrypted in the app's private storage, which protects them from other apps but not from someone with physical or administrative access to an unlocked or rooted device. We recommend not saving credentials you would not want held in a local database.
Clipboard Vault requests no runtime permissions. You will never see a permission prompt from this app. It declares the following install-time permissions, which Android grants automatically and which cannot be used to read your personal data:
INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — for the weekly announcement
check described in section 5, and nothing else.WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED and FOREGROUND_SERVICE
— required by the Android Jetpack library that schedules that weekly check so it survives a
restart. The app runs no user-visible background service and performs no background clipboard
reading.Deliberately absent: storage permissions (export and restore go through Android's system file picker instead), notification permission, screen overlay permission, and any accessibility service.
Clips are kept until you delete them. There is no automatic expiry and no hidden copy.
Because your clips never reach us, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.
Your clips are held in app-private storage protected by the Android application sandbox and by your device's own encryption. The only request the app ever sends is the announcement check in section 5, which carries no clip data and is encrypted with HTTPS; the app refuses to make that request over an unencrypted connection. There is no server holding your history, so there is no store of clips that can be breached. The two ways your data can leave your device are both actions you take deliberately: exporting a backup file, or pasting a clip somewhere yourself.
Clipboard Vault is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data that a company holds about you. We hold no personal data about you. Everything Clipboard Vault stores sits on your own device, under your direct control, and the in-app export and delete functions let you exercise those rights yourself at any time without asking us.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Any change that materially affects how the app handles your data will also be noted in the app's Google Play listing.
